  1. 1 cup toor dal
  2. 250 gm palak
  3. 1/2 tsp haldi powder
  4. as per taste salt
  5. For gravy

  8. 2 green chilli
  9. 5 cloves garlic
  10. 1 inch ginger
  11. 3 tsp desi ghee
  12. 1.5 tsp jeera
  13. 1 tsp haldi powder
  14. 1 tsp red chilli powder
  15. 1 tsp coriander powder
  16. 1 tsp garam masala
  17. 2 pinch hing
  18. 2 dry red chilli

Instructions to make to make Toor Dal Palak

  1. Wash properly toor dal 4 to 5 times. Soak it in hot water for 15 minutes
  2. After that transfer it in cooker add 3 cup water, 1/2 tsp haldi powder, 1 tsp salt, boil it for 1 whistle on high flame. Low the flame boil for another whistle. Switch off the flame
  3. Take palak (remove stems)
    Wash it properly and roughly chop it.
  4. In a mixer grinder jar add tomato, garlic, ginger, green chilli and make a fine paste.
  5. Heat a pan add 2 tsp desi ghee add 1 tsp jeera, pinch of hing, onion, saute it till onions are light brown.
  6. Add tomato paste, salt, 1/2 tsp haldi powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, saute it till ghee leaves the masala. (it take only 4 to 5 minutes)
  7. Add chopped palak in it, mix it properly, cook till palak leaves the water.
  8. Add boiled dal in it, mix it properly, cover and cook for 3 to 5 minutes, then add garam masala
  9. Transfer in a serving bowl.
  10. Heat 1 tsp desi ghee in a pan add 1/2 tsp jeera, pinch of hing, 2 dry red chilli. Pour it on top of dal palak. It taste awesome.
  11. Toor dal palak is ready to serve, best accompanied with boiled rice.
