- 1 Tbsp ghee
- 2-3 whole red chillies
- 1 tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder
- Pinch asafoetida
- 1 Tbsp fried onions
Instructions to make to make Dal Palak
- Soak Chana Dal for 30 mins. Wash the Spinach well and chop fine, blanch in hot water for 1 min and immediately put them in ice cold water for 2 mins. Drain and set aside
- In a pressure cooker, add all Dals, turmeric powder and salt and on medium flame pressure cook for 3-4 whistles. Once done don’t remove the lid, de-pressurise and gently remove the lid. Set aside
- In a wok heat ghee, add cumin seeds, asafoetida, chopped onions, cook until onions softened.
- Add chopped tomatoes, green chilies and cook until tomatoes are mushy. Add coriander powder, red chillies powder and the spinach. Stir well.
- Add the cooked Dal and mix well, add salt, lime juice, coriander leaves. Mix and set aside
- For Tempering - in a wok heat ghee, add cumin seeds, asafoetida, whole red chillies, fried onions and Kashmiri red chilli powder. Stir for 1 min and immediately add to the Dal. Mix well and set aside
- Plate with Roti, Rice, Papad and salad and enjoy a wholesome meal
