Instructions to make to make Dal-Palak

  1. First boil the chana dal and chopped palak along with 1 cup of water & 1/4th tsp turmeric powder and half tsp salt in it. Wait for 4 to 5 whistles. Now keep it aside.
  2. Now heat a pan. Add 1 tbsp of ghee in it, then add jeera, bay leaf and dried red chilli. Let them splutter a bit then add grated onion to it. Fry it for a min. Then add chopped green chillies & ginger-garlic paste to it. Saute it for about a min.
  3. Then add dry masalas like, turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder, salt & sugar. Mix everything well and fry the masala for another min. Then add tomato puree into it.
  4. Now give everything a good mix and fry the masalas well on a low flame until oil starts releasing from the masala.
  5. Now add the dal-palak mixture into it & mix it. Lower the flame & cook it for about 5 mins. Then add garam masala powder, mix it well. Finally add some chopped coriander leaves and mix it well.
  6. Switch off the flame. Your dal-palak is now ready to serve. Serve it hot with roti or parathas.
